Wet N Wild Lust palette look LOTD

I have had this palette for a while now and I am barely using it. Bad! LOL Anyway, these colors are amazing. There has been so much hype over these little palettes and I finally know why. They blend so easily and are super pigmented. I love them. I have a few of them, so there will be more looks coming up soon. Hope you like it.

I used every color in the palette with the.
Top left (highlight)
Middle left (all over my lid)
Bottom left (crease)
Middle right (placed over crease color to add some sparkle)
Bottom right ( to blend out crease color)
Top right (between the crease and highlight to help blend it out)

Swatch of the Day: My MAC Pink Eyeshadows

pinkpalette
This time around I’m swatching the eyeshadows in my “Pink” MAC palette! These are the ones that I’ve decided are “full” pinks. I have a “Pink-ish Purples” palette that I put other ones in that, to me, are not a full pink or a full purple color. Does that make sense? Probably not, but most people have unique ways of organizing their palettes to their personal tastes.

Swatching procedure: My skin tone is roughly a MAC NW20 (maybe NW15 since any tan is fading). Swatches are done over MAC Painterly paint pot to provide a base, therefore results may appear different on bare skin.
Photos are taken in my bathroom of the shadows themselves under “Natural Light” bubs which mimic natural daylight. Swatch pictures were taken by a window with natural sunlight.

Jan 242011
The last few days of January are winding down, and I have a feeling that we’ll be seeing some exciting things released in February.  For now, I have a few things from the Spring collections to review for you, but also letting  a few collections pass me by.  Armani, Clinique and Estee Lauder have released things over the past week or two, but I haven’t seen anything very exciting that is a “must have” from a number of lines for me this time around.
Am I the only one that thinks that some of these lavenders are going to start looking a little tired by May?  I don’t know, maybe on some they will keep going.  I have to keep lavenders and violets  either very sheer, or very greyed-down, or they look over the top.
And if I’m not excited looking at it, my view is that it’s not for me.  Makeup should be fun.
In the meantime, I’m playing with some of my current products, going to the gym and taking care of some interesting things I’m doing outside of the blogsphere.
With a few exceptions–and one of them is the subject of this post.  Over the past few months, drugstore beauty company Wet n Wild been busy reformulating new eyeshadow palettes, including two for neutral lovers–Walking on Eggshells ($2.99) and Silent Treatment ($2.99).
According to one of my favorite drugstore beauty experts, Noveau Cheap, Silent Treatment looks like a drugstore “must have”:
Attention all taupe fanatics! You NEED Silent Treatment. I could just stop there, but I’ll go on. My pics do NOT capture the beauty of this taupe. It’s got a rose-gold sheen to it that you must see in person.
Well, when a fellow beauty blogger writes something like that, how can you ignore it?  I’ll tell you how–you can’t! Plus, she’s been giving very high praise for Wet n Wild’s new 8-pan palettes that sell for around $5 (are these octo-pans? for $5? what?).  It sounded exciting enough to investigate, so I did.
My local Rite Aid had none of the 8-pans/octo-pans, but it did have the three-pan beauties in stock so I thought I’d take them out for a spin.  Shall we?
Here’s Walking on Eggshells, which I believe was released before the holidays.  It includes a creamy white highlighter, a medium soft brown-gold and a peach that has a tendency to go frosty.
Certainly, Wet n Wild saves some money by providing bare-bones packaging and tiny sponge-applicators.  All of the focus is on the quality of the powder. Wet n Wild gets extra points for having stickers that peel off without leaving a mess, or breaking a nail, yet keep the product sanitary and untested:
Open, the shadows surface look a little tossed around but since they’ve been sealed we know they’re clean:
Wet n Wild Walking on Eggshells was pretty impressive for a $2.99 trio.  The browbone highlighter was soft, pigmented and usable.  The golden crease color evokes some of the soft camel colors that we saw from higher-end brands last fall.  My only complaint was the peach, which was not very finely milled and so had to be very carefully/lightly applied to avoid frosting up.  Even so, it’s pretty frosty.
All shades are shimmey, without any glittery bits.  With the paint-by-numbers direction, this is an extremely easy and fun little palette.
Swatches (take in sunlight):
Wet n Wild’s Silent Treatment is newly released, and includes a rather unique plummy light taupe that’s worth a look.  Although Noveau Cheap described her palette as including a rose gold, I found mine to have a purple-gray tinge that predominated.  Sometimes I wonder if companies release slightly different colors in different batches–in the years before beauty blogging, who would know?  Joeybunny and I had a conversation about this last Fall about a MAC pigment–the color was literally different in New York City than it was at my counter in California.  So when you look at Nouveau Cheap’s pictures and at mine, keep in mind that there does seem to be a color difference but that I’m not entirely sure why.
Noveau Cheap and I do completely agree on one thing–the taupe in Silent Treatment is very different from the small taupe Wet n Wild single eyeshadow in Nutty, which has a silver-brown-champagne cast.
Here’s Silent Treatment, with its taupe in the bottom pan:
Like the Walking on Eggshells palette, Silent Treatment’s Peachy color (marked “Browbone”) tended to get frosty, especially when I applied it to my lid (rather than my browbone, as suggested) with a MAC 217 (I was never very good at following rules in paint by numbers either).  The middle deep brown/black was soft and pigmented, although infused with sparkle.
But the taupe…. the taupe!! It applied like the dreamy, dreamy taupe of my dreams. Dreamily.
Here’s an overly ambitious effort at swatching everything before my moment of sunshine went away.  The top three shades are the three pans of Silent Treatment.  The one on the furthest right top is the taupe.  As you can see, it swatches quite a bit more plum than the other’s that I’ve swatched with it.  Here, Silent Treatment’s taupe is compared to Chanel Vega, Chanel Safari, Cargo Yukon and Wet n Wild Nutty on the second/bottom row.  These are all heavy swatches:
As you can see, Silent Treatment’s taupe looked much cooler, and more rose-plum, than any of the other taupes.  When applied on the lid, the Silent Treatment taupe looked more gray but retained its plummy tone.  It was really gorgeous, lighter in tone than MAC’s Moth Brown or MAC’s Unflappable.
Wet n Wild major gets major points for putting together some nice shadows at a very nice price point. As if $2.99 weren’t low enough, I believe that these go on sale occasionally.  Although not as finely milled as some shadows, and without the luxurious packaging, these shadows deliver some pretty decent quality for the price. There is a complexity and sheen that’s very pretty.  I can not think of another drugstore shadow that is this good, and we know those drugstore palette prices are creeping up over $10.  Wet n Wild’s comparatively stress-free $2.99 each makes these an easy, fun choice for those inclined.

Sleek Paraguaya palette from the limited edition Avoir La Peche collection, SGD22 from Undertwenty20! I think this palette would also be fabulous as a blush palette, so many coral-orange-orangeypinks that would be so nice for the cheeks. Some of the matte colours are powdery and chalky, but you can definitely build up the pigmentation by layering and patting the colour on. I was interested in the blush from this collection but I didn't want to get it in case it looks too much like my NARS Gina (seen here). Of course, I don't know why I got this either but it's just one of those things you feel like you need to get, for no good reason at all :P
So yep, hope you guys enjoyed this one!

Budget Beauty Monday – New 2011 Wet N Wild Coloricon Shadow Trios Review And Swatches

Posted by anotherbeautyblogger on January 10, 2011
It’s Monday…time for Budget Beauty Monday!!! Let’s face it. After the weekend we usually end up feeling like we ate too much, drank too much, spent too much, and didn’t do enough around the house. So I figure Monday on AnotherBeautyBlog.com should feature budget beauty products that won’t break the bank so you won’t feel bad about wanting to run out and get them.
Let me just tell you, I’m so excited about this post.  Last week, I posted a teaser post with the display of the new 2011 Wet N Wild Coloricon Shadow Trios.  In that post I also said that I walked out of the store empty-handed because I knew Walgreens was having a 50% off sale on Wet N Wild cosmetics that started Sunday, January 9th.  Obviously picking up the entire collection at half off was the practical thing to do.  I am so happy to report that my local Walgreens did in fact have the new 2011 Wet N Wild Collection in stock Sunday morning.  I picked up one of everything they had!  They didn’t have the 8 pan palettes yet and they were out of the mascara.  Everyone seems to be most excited about new Coloricon Eyeshadow Trios so I thought we should start with them.
New for 2011, Wet N Wild has introduced 6 new Coloricon Shadow Trios.  They include I Dream Of Greenie 331, I’m Feeling Retro 332, I Got Good Jeans 333, I’m getting Sunburned 334, Silent Treatment 335, and Spoiled Brat 336.  WNW has really covered a wide range of the color spectrum here.  There are fun, bright, and bold shades as well as neutral and safe shades.
The display states: “New, dynamic shades with 30% more pigment and pearl for ultra-impact color.”  Apparently, the new shadows feature a new and improved formula to make them even more pigmented and velvet-y than last years shadows.  That’s pretty amazing considering that last year’s shadows were pretty pigmented to begin with.
I Dream Of Greenie 331 & I'm Feeling Retro 332
I Got Good Jeans 333 & I'm Getting Sunburned 334
Silent Treatment 335 & Spoiled Brat 336
Like previous Wet N Wild Shadow Trios, each of these trios feature 3 complimentary shades of eye shadow.  Each is meant for either the browbone, crease, or eyelid.  Each pan of shadow is embossed with either “browbone,” “crease,” or “eyelid” making it easy to create a fantastic look for even the beauty novice.  Of course, it’s fun to ignore the suggestions and mix-and-match the shadows to create your own fun look.
I Dream Of Greenie 331 is a trio of vibrant greens.  The light green browbone color has a frosty shimmer effect while the crease and eyelid shades are bolder shades both with fine flecks of gold in them.
I Dream Of Greenie 331
I’m Feeling Retro 332 has the perfect name, in my opinion.  It features frosty white shimmer browbone shade, an iridescent-esque teal-blue crease shade, and an iridescent-esque shimmery pink/purple  eyelide shade.  I think I’m Feeling Retro is the perfect name for this trio because it makes me think back to the colors of the Wet N Wild Cosmetics of the 80s.  Of course, the make-up for Wet N Wild is a million times better now, but weren’t the colors of the 80s a lot of fun?
I'm Feeling Retro 332
I Got Good Jeans 333 features a metallic icy blue or gray (depending on the light you’re looking at it in) browbone shade, a shimmery navy blue crease color, and a semi-metallic shimmery gold shade.  I love the metallic finishes in this palette.  If you are a fan of the Stila Travel Girl Palettes, I Got Good Jeans is very similar to Adventurous In Aspen.  I loved Adventurous In Aspen, but I love I Got Good Jeans even more.   The Wet N Wild shadows are much more creamier than the Stila Travel Palettes shadows.
I Got Good Jeans 333
I’m Getting Sunburned 334 is one of the more low-key color trios of the bunch, but it’s definitely not boring.  It features a gorgeous pale pink shimmer browbone shade,  a semi-matte chocolate brown with subtle bronze sparkle crease color, and metallic copper/bronze shimmer lid shade.  I call the crease color a semi-matte because it has the slight appearance of a matte, but it is also infused with a little bit of sparkle so it’s not a full-on matte.  If you’re a fan of Clinique, for some reason this trio makes me think of Strawberry Fudge.  It’s been awhile since I used Strawberry Fudge so the colors may not be that close.  But I always loved the combo of pink and brown in the Strawberry Fudge duo and I’m Getting Sunburned is an amped up version of that.
I'm Getting Sunburned 334
Silent Treatment 335 is the other low-key trio of the bunch, but again, so not boring!  It features a shimmery light peach browbone shade, a semi-matte brown with sparkle crease color (similar to the crease color in I’m Getting Sunburned), and a shimmer taupe eyelid shade.  When the light catches these shades, oh my God, G-O-R-G-E-O-U-S!!!  There is no doubt in my mind that I will be reaching for this palette over and over again.  You’ll be able to wear this palette to work and keep on wearing it for a night out on the town.
Silent Treatment 335
Spoiled Brat 336 features a metallic silver browbone shade, a semi-matte black with subtle silver sparkle crease color, and a fuchsia eyelid shade.  I love the metallic silver shade in this palette.  I will be stealing it from this palette to use with others.  The fuchsia eyeslide shadow is one of the most true to fuchsia color I have ever seen.  It is a bold shade and will definitely get you noticed when you wear it.
Spoiled Brat
Overall, I am beyond in love with the new Wet N Wild Coloricon Eyeshadow Trios.  All of the shadows themselves apply like a dream; velvety in texture, no chalkiness, buildable, and blendable.  Every color is absolutely gorgeous.  The pictures of the swatches really do not do them justice.  I love that the wide range of colors provides something for everyone.
I described just about every shade as having shimmer or glitter or being metallic.  Don’t worry, these are sophisticated instances of shimmer, glitter, and metallic.  No big chunky flakes of glitter that will cause a ton of fall-out here.
There may be one downside to these palettes for some.  I know a lot of people loved the Coloricon Palettes from last year because they featured 3 shimmery shades and 3 matte shades.  These palettes are all about the shimmer and not the matte.  If you were a matte fan, I’m sorry but you won’t find that here.
At $2.99 these are an absolute steal.  With Walgreens’ half off sale these are an absolute must have.  Seriously, $1.49 for each palette?  You NEED to pick up all six, especially at that price.  And let me just tell you, if you’re more of neutrals girl and are scared of the bolder shades, put that thought aside and get all six palettes.  At $1.49, allow yourself the opportunity to try something new and play with some color.  And the same goes to you color loving girls who usually poo-poo on neutral palettes.  Pick up these neutral palettes!
Oh, and while we’re on the subject of going out to buy these items.  My Walgreens had these displayed the same way they had their holiday collection displayed, on the side of an endcap.  The only thing is this time they were over by the skin care department and not directly across from the permanent Wet N Wild section.  Walgreens seems to be flooded with a lot of new products from a lot of brands.  The special displays seem to be spread out over more of the store as a result.  I actually missed the Wet N Wild display at first.  Other stores had the on the counter display as well.  So keep an eye out for both.
Did you hit up your Walgreens for the Wet N Wild Cosmetics 50% off sale?  Did they have the new  2011 items out yet?  What did you haul?  What are you lusting for?

Drugstore Dupe for Stila's Kitten

In my previous post, I mentioned that there's a dupe to a pretty big name shadow hiding in Wet n Wild's Walking on Eggshells trio - and here it is.

Kitten to Stila is what All That Glitters is to MAC. It's that color that most girls associate with the brand and has been deemed as a 'must-have' from them. Well, I've already given you an All That Glitters dupe, so here's the Kitten one!

While the other two shades in the trio are also pretty, the one we're interested in is the 'eyelid' shade. That's Kitten in pan form sitting on the WnW trio. I know that Kitten looks a bit more shimmery in the pan, but look what happens when applied.

(left) Kitten and (right) WnW eyelid shade

Here are the swatches in natural light. I tried to catch as little direct light as possible so you could better see the actual colors next to each other. But how do the finishes compare?

Here they are in more direct light. Pretty similar, yea?

More good news is that both of these swatches only required one swipe of the product; no building up was necessary and, as always, no primer was used for either of these.

So with the Stila single shadow coming in at $18 and the Wet n Wild trio being only around $2, this is definitely a good (and economical!) dupe to check out!

Thanks for reading.

Let me know if you pick this up!

Wet N' Wild Color Icon Trios & Swatches

Swatches of Wet N/ Wild eyeshadows! I purchased 'Walking on Eggshells' & 'don't steal my thunder' from Walgreens. The rest are from Rite Aid.

These retail for $2.99 (not sure if this differs based on your location). I got them all pretty much for $1.99 cause I bought them on sale.

Overall expectations: I think these are GREAT eyeshadows especially for the price! Absolutely wonderful pigmentation. Some can be chalky but some also make up for it because of the metallic payoff.

I feel like W N' W is really expanding their color collection and I really love that!

Compared to the holiday palettes, I totally would have to say that the trios incredibly surpass the holiday collection! I don't even reach for the holiday collection palettes at all & can't even remember the last time I did!

Feel free to watch my latest Wet N' Wild video here :o)

Anyways, hope you enjoyed! Happy Friday all :)
