M.A.C Warehouse Sale Haul Part 1: The $3 Bins

On Friday my sister and I went to the Estee Lauder warehouse sale (better known as the M.A.C warehouse sale). It was crazy! I have been two other times, but it was not as crowded or as hectic as this time. We got to the sale two hours early. Last time we went we got there right on time and ended up having to wait 2 hours to get into the sale, so we decided we would rather wait earlier and be able to get to the different stations before all of the best products were gone. We were not the first ones there. There were around 125 people ahead of us. Some were sitting in lawn chairs under big blankets and I can only imagine how long they had been there. Finally, after 2 hours, we were the first group of people let into the sale.

The sale is held in a huge warehouse with 3 different rooms. Each room contains several products. The first room held gift sets, makeup bags, eyeshadow quads, nail polish, concealers, perfume sets, and miscellaneous face creams, cleansers, etc. The second rooms contained makeup brushes, eyeshadows, more perfume sets, M.A.C gift sets, foundations and more miscellaneous creams and cleansers. Finally, the third rooms held the $3 bins, blushes and powders, lipsticks and lipglosses, and the checkout.

The way the sale works is that there are different sections (ie. lipsticks, powder and blushes, etc). Each section has several tables with products taped down and numbers beside the products (ie. Instant Chic blush, number 64). People have to write down the numbers of the items they would like to buy and then get in line and hand the piece of paper with all of the numbers to the "runners" who get your products out of the corresponding boxes and bins.

$3 Bin Haul
The first place we headed once we were let into the sale was the $3 bins. These bins usually contain travel size products such as mini eyemakeup removers and mini sized lipgloss, M.A.C lashes and single pan eyeshadows. Last time I went to the sale we got to the $3 bins too late and most of the items were sold out. I really wanted to get my hands on some $3 eyelashes as they are usually priced between $15-$20 Canadian per pair. Because we were two of the first people to get to these bins, we got first pick of everything they had. I ended up buying the following:

Chill Blue, Romantique

1) M.A.C single pan eyeshadow in 'Chill Blue': Chill blue is a light cool toned blue eyeshadow with fine specks of silver glitter. I tried looking to see what collection this shadow is originally from but couldn't find any information on it.

2) M.A.C single pan eyeshadow in 'Romantique': Romantique is a light peachy-pink with gold glitter. It is extremely sheer but can be built up for more colour. Again, I tried looking to see what collection this was originally from but couldn't find any information.

Number 10 lashes, Number 41 lashes, Number 40 lashes

3) M.A.C number 10 eyelashes: These lashes are full lashes that mix heavy and lighter strands (ie. 10 hairs, 3 hairs, 10 hairs, 3 hairs, etc). The tips of these lashes are highly curved upwards. I don't think these lashes are sold at M.A.C any more.

4) M.A.C number 41 eyelashes: These lashes are definitely my favourite. They are extremely long and the lashes criss-cross over one another to create a diamond shaped look. These lashes are regularly sold at M.A.C for $16.50 Canadian.

5) M.A.C number 40 eyelashes: These lashes are extremely delicate, short, sparse and curve downwards rather than up. I believe these lashes would work best when applied to the lower lash line, rather than the upper lash line. These lashes are no longer sold at M.A.C stores.

Number 43 lashes, Number 47 lashes, Number 46 lashes

6) M.A.C number 43 eyelashes: These lashes are quite dramatic. There is mix between strands with an  extremely heavy amounts of hair (approx 40 hairs)  and those with  a light amount of hairs (approx 5 hairs). The hairs are fairly short which allows for daytime use. These lashes at currently sold at M.A.C stores for $16.50 Canadian

7) M.A.C number 47 eyelashes: These lashes are by far the most dramatic and least wearable. To be honest, they kind of scare me! The hairs on these lashes progress from a medium length on the outer corner to an extremely long length on the inner corner. They are extremely wispy and whimsical and would work with an over the top look. These lashes are no longer sold at M.A.C stores

8) M.A.C number 46 lashes: These lashes are extremely short and very full. Although they are short, I don't think they would be very wearable with a day time look, and should be saved for more of a dramatic nighttime eye look. These lashes are currently sold at M.A.C stores for $16.50 Canadian

Top to Bottom: Loving Touch, Frozen Dream, Stealing Kisses,  Delicate Crush, Scottish Lilt

9) Mini sized M.A.C see thru lip colour in 'Loving Touch': This lipgloss is an extremely sheer and pearlized hot pink with red undertones that adds a nice stain to the lips. This colour would be perfect on someone with minimal pigmentation in their lips. Seeing as my lips are highly pigmented, you may be seeing this lipgloss in one of my future giveaways.

10) Mini sized M.A.C lipglass in 'Frozen Dream': This lipglass is a sheer yet sticky pink-purple. Originally from the 'Chill Collection' this colour has been discontinued. Look for this one to show up in one of my future giveaways.

11) Mini sized M.A.C lipglass in "Stealing Kisses": Stealing kisses is a dark brown opaque colour. I originally thought this colour would make a great nude but was surprised to see just show pigmented it actually is when swatched. I am not a huge fan of brown lipgloss so you will most likely see this one in a future giveaway.

12) Mini sized M.A.C lipglass in "Delicate Crush": This blue-toned baby pink is originally from the 2008 holiday collection. This colour is no longer available but looks extremely similar to the new Viva Glam Lady Gaga lipglass recently released by M.A.C.

13) Mini sized M.A.C lipglass in "Scottish Lilt": Scottish Lilt is the perfect shade of nude for me. It is a peachy-brown toned lipgloss with an opaque finish and will look great over my nude or peach lipsticks. I'm not sure what collection this lipglass originally came out with or if it is still available at M.A.C but I will be getting a lot of use out of this colour.

Mini Fix +

14) Travel sized 'Fix +': I already own Fix + but couldn't pass up the extremely cute baby sized bottle of this product. For those of you who don't know, Fix + is a vitamin and mineral infused water that can be used in many ways (ie. to help makeup stay on all day, to help foil pigments, etc). This will be perfect for taking on vacation. The only problem? I'm kicking myself for not buying more of these.

It was an extremely crazy day. All in all, we were there for 7 hours (including the 2 hours waiting in line). The lineups were extremely long (an hour and 1/2 to get blush), people were very pushy and sometimes rude, it was really hot and girls were fainting and had to be taken away by ambulance. Yes, it is crazy what lengths we will go to for some cheap makeup, but I know for sure if I get tickets for the next sale in December I will be lining up 2 hours beforehand with my lawn chair and blanket.

I wanted to break down my haul into several parts so I could talk about the different products I bought rather than just naming them off. There will be several parts to this haul so definitely check back to see what else I bought that day.

Thanks
Alicia
